Six Indian armed forces personnel who sacrificed their lives during ‘Operation Sindoor,’ India’s military response to the Pahalgam massacre by Pakistan in May last year, will be commemorated at the National War Memorial in New Delhi. The names of these brave soldiers will be etched on granite bricks at the memorial, marking their valor and sacrifice for the nation.
Among the fallen heroes are five soldiers from the Indian Army and one sergeant from the Indian Air Force, whose identities have been revealed for the first time. Two of them, Rifleman Sunil Kumar and Sergeant Surendra Kumar, have been posthumously honored by the government for their exceptional courage with the Vir Chakra and Vayu Sena Medal, respectively.
The six martyred soldiers from ‘Operation Sindoor’ include Subedar Major Pawan Kumar, Rifleman Sunil Kumar, Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar, Agniveer Murali Naik, Havildar Sunil Kumar Singh, and Indian Air Force Sergeant Surendra Kumar. Their names will be permanently inscribed at the National War Memorial to ensure that their sacrifice is never forgotten by the nation.
These brave sons will join the ‘Tyag Chakra’ at the National War Memorial, a tribute to the country’s martyrs, featuring 16 circular granite walls bearing the names, ranks, and units of soldiers who laid down their lives for India since Independence. The addition of these six heroes from ‘Operation Sindoor’ will further enrich this memorial of valor and sacrifice.
