At least six individuals sustained injuries following a violent clash that escalated into a gunfight over a purported dispute related to sand mining in Bihar’s Jehanabad district. The incident, which occurred between Chaiti-Pipar and Ginji villages under the Ghosi police station limits, led to panic in the area due to multiple rounds of gunfire exchanged between the opposing groups.
The injured parties, identified as Dinesh Ram, Ajay Ram, Sudhir Ram, Dheeraj Kumar, Vijay Ram from Chaiti-Pipar village, and Vishnu Kumar from Ginji village, were initially taken to the Ghosi Primary Health Centre for first aid. Dinesh Ram sustained a leg injury from a bullet, while Dheeraj Kumar, critically wounded in the chest, was referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital for advanced treatment.
Eyewitnesses reported that the gunfire erupted during a disagreement between the two villages, allegedly triggered by objections to sand mining activities. Resham Kumari, a witness, claimed that around 20 individuals arrived and opened fire after objections were raised, resulting in injuries to multiple individuals.
Local residents indicated that tensions between the villages had been ongoing for months over the alleged sand mining issue. The confrontation on Saturday reportedly escalated from an argument to a violent clash, with both sides firing numerous rounds. Jehanabad SDPO-2 Kriti Kamal confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation is underway to identify and take legal action against those involved.
