Six minor boys are feared to have drowned in two separate incidents in Outer Delhi. In the first incident, four boys went missing after being swept away by the strong currents of the Yamuna River in the Alipur area. The incident occurred while the children were bathing in the river near Thokar No. 24 in Hiranki village.
Rescue teams recovered the bodies of two boys, with the search ongoing for the remaining two children. A joint rescue operation involving the Delhi Fire Service, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and other agencies was launched promptly. The search operation was temporarily suspended due to poor visibility and darkness.
In the second incident, two minor boys, aged eight and ten, allegedly drowned in a rainwater-filled excavation pit in Mukhmelpur village. The children were playing in agricultural fields when they fell into the water-filled pit. Local residents pulled them out and rushed them to the hospital, but they were declared brought dead on arrival.
Authorities have sealed off the area and cautioned residents against entering the Yamuna due to high water levels and strong currents. An FIR has been registered under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, related to causing death by negligence, with investigations ongoing into the incident.
