Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Smriti Irani stated that Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader and Lok Sabha’s Opposition Leader, acknowledged the likelihood of BJP winning the West Bengal Assembly elections. Irani referred to Gandhi’s recent video message where he mentioned that BJP’s progress in Bengal was due to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s governance.

Irani emphasized that Rahul Gandhi’s remarks implied the formation of a BJP government in West Bengal due to Mamata Banerjee’s ineffective governance. She criticized the Congress and Trinamool Congress for contesting separately in Bengal despite being allies at the national level.

Addressing a campaign rally, Gandhi accused Prime Minister Modi and Mamata Banerjee of having a hidden understanding, alleging no legal actions against Mamata. Irani, campaigning for the upcoming polls, highlighted the Opposition’s strategy of competing against each other in state elections despite being in alliance at the national level.
