South Korean President Lee Jae Myung is set to visit India from April 19-21 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs. The visit aims to enhance bilateral cooperation in areas such as shipbuilding, trade, investments, AI, semiconductors, and cultural exchanges. Discussions between President Lee Jae Myung and PM Modi will also cover regional and global issues of mutual interest.
During his first visit to India since taking office, President Lee Jae Myung will be hosted by PM Modi for a lunch event. Accompanied by South Korea’s First Lady Kim Hea Kyung and a high-level delegation, President Lee Jae Myung will engage in talks with President Droupadi Murmu. Additionally, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will meet with President Lee Jae Myung upon his arrival in India.
The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted the historical ties and shared values of democracy and rule of law between India and South Korea. The visit underscores the commitment of both nations to strengthen existing cooperation and explore new areas of mutual interest. Last year, PM Modi and President Lee Jae Myung met at the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, continuing their discussions from the G7 Summit in Canada.
