The southwest monsoon brought widespread rainfall to Rajasthan, with the India Meteorological Department issuing alerts for various districts. An orange alert was issued for Bharatpur, Dholpur, Baran, and Jhalawar, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall. Additionally, a yellow alert was sounded for 29 districts in the state.
Intense rainfall activity is expected to persist in eastern and southern Rajasthan until July 10, gradually weakening thereafter. The yellow alert covers major areas including Jaipur, Ajmer, Tonk, Bundi, Bhilwara, and others, advising residents to be cautious due to potential thunderstorms and moderate to heavy rainfall. Notably, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Jodhpur, and Jalore are outside the alert zone.
The IMD cautioned residents in Bharatpur, Dholpur, Baran, and Jhalawar to avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from waterlogged areas. The past 24 hours saw significant rainfall in eastern and southern Rajasthan, with areas like Bayana and Mandrayal receiving substantial precipitation. Waterlogging in cities like Alwar, Karauli, and Chittorgarh caused traffic disruptions.
The continuous rainfall has brought relief from the heat, with daytime temperatures dropping below 35 degrees Celsius in many districts. Jaipur experienced cloudy skies with a maximum temperature of 33.1 degrees C, while Jaisalmer recorded the highest temperature at 41.6 degrees C. The Meteorological Department anticipates ongoing rainfall until July 10, gradually tapering off from July 11 onwards.
