Ceylon Workers Congress President Senthil Thondaman expressed gratitude to the Indian government for their aid during Cyclone Ditwah. He met Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan and requested Overseas Citizen of India status for Indian-origin Tamils in Sri Lanka. Thondaman appreciated India’s continuous support during crises like the cyclone and the Covid pandemic.

Tamil Progressive Alliance Party leader Mano Ganeshan had a positive discussion with Vice President Radhakrishnan, seeking simplified OCI status for Indian-origin individuals in Sri Lanka. Ganeshan highlighted the unique situation of indigenous Tamils in Sri Lanka’s northeastern province and the challenges they face. He emphasized the importance of understanding the complexities of Tamil nationalism and the need for support in various sectors like education and health.

Vice President Radhakrishnan’s visit to Sri Lanka signifies the strengthening diplomatic ties between the two countries. During his visit, he met with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, further enhancing bilateral relations.
