Sunil Bharti Mittal, Founder and Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, praised the India-EU free trade agreement, emphasizing its significance in the evolving global economic landscape. Mittal commended the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and European political leaders for their strategic vision in strengthening the India-EU partnership.
Expressing optimism, Mittal highlighted the potential for collaboration in digital infrastructure, space connectivity, and secure networks under the FTA. He noted that this agreement would offer European investors opportunities to innovate and expand with India for global markets. Additionally, the deal creates avenues for Indian companies like Airtel to invest in European digital infrastructure.
FICCI welcomed the pact, recognizing its strategic importance. The agreement is expected to unlock new trade and investment prospects, enhancing market access, value-chain integration, and export competitiveness across various sectors. Dr. Ranjeet Mehta from PHDCCI highlighted that the FTA, coupled with investment protection and geographical indication recognition, positions India as a value creator in global trade.
Piyush Arora, MD and CEO of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India (SAVW), emphasized the positive impact of the agreement on the Indian economy and EU trade relations. Arora mentioned that the agreement would provide greater tariff certainty, enabling the evaluation of a wider range of European models for Indian consumers. He anticipated enhanced technology transfer, capability development, and long-term investments in the Indian automotive sector.
