Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has restructured the government’s administrative setup by assigning key portfolios to senior officials in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). This move aims to enhance administrative efficiency and promote better coordination among departments. The realignment involves senior bureaucrats overseeing clusters of vital departments to streamline governance and expedite decision-making processes.
The Additional Chief Secretary and Secretary-I to the Chief Minister, P Senthilkumar, will now supervise crucial departments such as Finance, Home, Municipal Administration, Industries, Highways, Health, Energy, and Public Works. This allocation underscores the government’s focus on closely monitoring finance, law enforcement, public infrastructure, and essential services in the initial phase of the new administration.
Secretary-II to the Chief Minister, G. Laxmi Priya, has been tasked with managing departments related to social development and welfare initiatives. Her responsibilities include overseeing School Education, Higher Education, Revenue, Rural Development, Housing, Social Welfare, and Women Empowerment departments. Additionally, she will handle appointments, protocol matters, and the overall administration of the Chief Minister’s Office.
Secretary-III to the Chief Minister, A. Annadurai, will oversee departments like Water Resources, Agriculture, Transport, Co-operation, and Law. This assignment places critical sectors associated with agriculture, resource management, and legal affairs under his purview. Furthermore, Additional Secretary to the Chief Minister, V. Vishnu, has been assigned responsibilities in emerging sectors like Information Technology, MSME, Tourism, Skill Development, Youth Welfare, and Sports Development.
The restructuring of administrative roles signifies the Vijay government’s commitment to establishing a more effective governance framework and enhancing coordination between the Chief Minister’s Office and various government departments.
