Tamil Nadu Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan dismissed opposition claims of political horse-trading by the ruling government, emphasizing the strong majority held by the alliance. Refuting allegations of using money to induce defections, he asserted the government’s stability and transparency, supported by a significant public mandate.
Addressing reporters in Erode, Sengottaiyan refuted accusations of pursuing political vendettas and attempting to lure legislators from rival parties. He highlighted the backing of the ruling coalition by key partners such as the Congress, VCK, and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), underscoring the alliance’s unity.
In a counter-accusation against the opposition, the minister alleged that the DMK had a history of engaging in political defections in Tamil Nadu. He pointed to instances where legislators, including former AIADMK leader Anita R. Radhakrishnan, had switched sides under previous DMK administrations, contrasting it with the current government’s mandate-driven formation.
Sengottaiyan also addressed controversies surrounding recent events, including the Governor’s review meeting and remarks related to the Karur stampede. He clarified that statements linked to the stampede were misinterpreted and aimed at ensuring justice and legal protection for affected families, amidst legal actions initiated by the DMK against the Chief Minister and other TVK leaders.
In a local development initiative, the minister inaugurated a new ration shop in Erode district, funded through the MLA Constituency Development Fund. The facility, costing Rs 16 lakh, is set to benefit 710 ration card holders in Karattadipalayam. Praising Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s governance approach, Sengottaiyan commended the administration’s efficiency in decision-making and public engagement to ensure comprehensive welfare scheme implementation.
