An 18-year-old girl named Anaya Sharma tragically lost her life in a hit-and-run incident on the expressway when a speeding Thar SUV struck her. Anaya, a resident of Jhunjhunu staying in Jaipur for Indian Air Force exam preparation, was jogging with her sister on the expressway’s Shanti Bagh stretch when the SUV hit her from behind, causing fatal injuries.
The driver of the Thar SUV fled the scene after the accident, leaving Anaya in critical condition. Despite immediate medical attention, she succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Following the hit-and-run, the driver abandoned the vehicle near Dadi ka Phatak and escaped on foot, colliding with another vehicle in the process.
Authorities conducted a post-mortem examination and handed over Anaya’s body to her family for final rites in their native village. The police have seized the abandoned Thar SUV and initiated an investigation, registering a case at Kardhani Police Station. Special teams are actively working to locate and apprehend the absconding driver, utilizing CCTV footage and technical surveillance for identification and arrest.
The tragic incident has sparked outrage among locals, prompting calls for strict measures against reckless driving on the expressway. Police have assured the community of the imminent arrest of the driver and promised stringent legal action against the perpetrator.
