Ten Delhi Police personnel sustained injuries while conducting rescue operations during the Malviya Nagar fire incident. Among them, five are Head Constables and five are Constables. These officers were the first responders at the burning building and are currently receiving treatment at the AIIMS Trauma Centre.
The Delhi Police have filed a case under the culpable homicide section and other relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) in connection with the Malviya Nagar fire, which tragically claimed the lives of 21 individuals. The hotel owner, identified as Lokesh Bajaj, is under scrutiny, along with three partners involved in the hotel’s operations, who also own multiple other establishments in the city.
Authorities, including the police and investigative agencies, are examining various aspects of the hotel’s ownership, operations, and safety protocols. Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Jitender Kumar confirmed the loss of 21 lives in the fire at the Lemon Green Restaurant in Malviya Nagar, with 26 individuals currently receiving medical care out of the 47 rescued.
The search and rescue operation concluded at 12:12 p.m., with a total of 47 individuals rescued, 21 fatalities, and 26 individuals under treatment. Senior officials from Delhi Police, Fire Services, and rescue teams are on-site overseeing the situation. Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Standing Committee Chairperson Satya Sharma visited the site to ensure stringent action against those found responsible.
