Tension escalated in a village in Telangana’s Medak district due to a feud between two families, resulting in two fatalities within 24 hours. Police presence was increased in Suraram village in Chinna Shankarampet mandal to prevent any further violence. The conflict began with the targeted killing of a youth in an autorickshaw accident, followed by the retaliatory murder of the main accused’s father by the deceased’s relatives.
The deceased, identified as Sridhar, was fatally hit by an autorickshaw while traveling on a motorbike to Anantasagar village in Chegunta mandal. Allegations from the deceased’s family pointed towards R. Prabhakar, a resident of Suraram, as the perpetrator of the attack due to past animosity. The situation escalated as the family protested, demanding justice and refusing to allow the police to move the body until their demands were met.
In a retaliatory move, Sridhar’s family members sought vengeance by attacking Prabhakar’s father, Yadagiri, who was found near an eatery. Yadagiri was assaulted with boulders, thrown into a stream, and succumbed to his injuries. Police intervened, retrieved Yadagiri’s body from the stream, and transferred it to the government hospital at Narsapur for a post-mortem examination. The perpetrators of Yadagiri’s murder have reportedly surrendered to the authorities.
The violent incidents have created a tense atmosphere in the village, prompting concerns about further clashes between the feuding families. Additional police forces were deployed to maintain peace, and senior police officials are overseeing investigations into both cases.
