Tension continues in Uttam Nagar’s JJ Colony in West Delhi following a tragic incident during Holi celebrations that resulted in a youth’s death. Security forces are heavily deployed to maintain order in the area. An angry mob vandalized property in the accused’s relatives’ lane, prompting their alleged escape due to fear.
Police intervened swiftly to prevent escalation, clearing the site and patrolling the area. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Niharika Bhatt, visited the victim’s family to assess the situation and security measures. Around 400 to 500 security personnel are deployed to ensure peace in the locality.
Five arrests have been made in connection with the case, with ongoing investigations to bring the culprits to justice. The police denied reports of a lathi charge during the protests and clarified security measures in place. Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Singh also visited the family to offer condolences and assure strict police action.
The dispute originated on Holi when a balloon’s colored water splashed on a woman, sparking a confrontation between two families. The altercation turned violent, resulting in the fatal attack on Tarun, who later succumbed to his injuries. Protesters demanded justice outside the police station, leading to tightened security measures in the area.
Members of Bajrang Dal were involved in protests, demanding action against the accused. Four individuals, including Kamruddin and Mushtaq, have been arrested, with efforts ongoing to apprehend more suspects. The situation remains tense but controlled, with a significant police presence in the locality.
