Thousands of people gathered in Caracas to demand the release of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores, who were forcibly taken during a US military operation a month ago. The rally, led by Miranda state Governor Elio Serrano, aimed to show the world that the people of Venezuela stand united. Acting president Delcy Rodriguez received strong support from the crowd, as stated by Xinhua news agency.
Jenny Escobar, the president of the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs of Venezuela, highlighted the rally as a demonstration of unwavering loyalty and support for Maduro and Flores. Participants marched from Plaza Venezuela to Urdaneta Avenue in central Caracas, continuing a series of protests that began on January 3.
In a separate development, Venezuela’s Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) expressed solidarity with acting president Delcy Rodriguez’s efforts for national reconciliation and unity. Defence Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez, in a statement posted on Telegram, reiterated the military’s support for Rodriguez’s actions. The show of support came exactly one month after the US military operation that led to the seizure of President Maduro and his wife.
Despite the challenges faced, Padrino emphasized the FANB’s commitment to upholding the democratic system and aiding the safe return of Maduro and Flores. He praised the Venezuelan troops for their response to the unprecedented military operation by the US, highlighting their dedication to the Constitution and the acting president.
