In a significant achievement for Punjab’s education sector, three female students have made history by scoring a flawless 500 out of 500 marks in the Class XII board examinations conducted by the Punjab School Education Board. Supneet Kaur from Gurukul Academy Public Senior Secondary School in Ubbha, Mansa, secured the top position in the science stream. Suhani Chauhan from BCM Senior Secondary School in Jamalpur Colony, Focal Point, Ludhiana, attained the second position in the humanities stream.
Divanshi from Teja Singh Sutantar Memorial Senior Secondary School in Shimlapuri, Ludhiana, clinched the third spot in the humanities stream. Noteworthy is the fact that all three toppers are also talented sportspersons. The results revealed that out of 265,417 students who appeared for the exams, 242,755 successfully passed, achieving an impressive overall pass percentage of 91.46%.
In terms of streams, the commerce stream boasted the highest pass percentage at 98.78%, with 34,074 out of 34,496 students clearing the exams. Following closely was the science stream with a pass percentage of 98.47%, where 55,593 out of 56,456 students succeeded. In the humanities stream, 145,179 out of 165,457 students passed, resulting in a pass percentage of 87.74%. The vocational stream also performed well, recording an 87.80% pass rate, with 7,909 out of 9,008 students passing.
Education Minister Harjot Bains attributed this remarkable outcome to the unwavering efforts of the students, the commitment of the teachers, and the systematic reforms implemented by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab government. Bains commended the three top-performing students for their outstanding performance and extended his best wishes to all successful candidates for their future endeavors. He also highlighted the exceptional achievement of multiple students scoring perfect marks across different streams, crediting the state’s emphasis on digital classrooms, teacher training, and timely syllabus completion for the improved results.
