A widowed tribal woman in Madhya Pradesh’s Jhabua district was reportedly gang raped by three men who broke into her house during a suspected robbery. The incident occurred in the Bori area on the night between Friday and Saturday. The woman informed the police that armed men barged into her home demanding silver ornaments.
The accused, upon not finding the valuables, allegedly vandalized her house, sexually assaulted her, and physically attacked her before fleeing the scene. Following the assault, the victim was hospitalized for treatment and underwent a medical examination. A forensic team visited the location to gather evidence.
Jhabua’s Superintendent of Police, Padma Vilochan Shukla, confirmed the incident and stated that an FIR has been filed under the relevant laws. Multiple teams have been deployed to apprehend the perpetrators. The victim’s statement has been recorded, and investigations are ongoing with the collection of forensic evidence.
The brutal incident has sparked political reactions, with the Leader of the Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, Umang Singhar, demanding swift arrests and severe legal actions against the culprits. Singhar condemned the act, calling for immediate apprehension of all involved and strict legal repercussions. He emphasized the need for a thorough investigation, accountability, and swift justice for the victim.
Authorities have assured that intensive efforts are being made to identify and capture the suspects promptly. The police have stated that a comprehensive investigation into the matter is currently in progress.
