Relatives of Trinamool Congress MP and former cricketer Yusuf Pathan, including his father-in-law, were arrested in Mumbai for allegedly assaulting a local family. The incident stemmed from a dispute over water splashing from a passing car.
The father-in-law, along with his son and another relative, were taken into custody by Byculla Police Station officials. The assault on a man and his family members in Mumbai’s Byculla area led to the arrests. A search is ongoing for a fourth accused in the case.
The altercation occurred when water splashed from a pothole onto an individual after a car passed through it. The situation escalated when the affected individual verbally abused and physically assaulted the car owner. Subsequently, a group including Yusuf Pathan’s father-in-law allegedly attacked the victim and his family members with bamboo sticks and baseball bats.
The arrested individuals have been remanded to judicial custody by the court. Police have cited CCTV footage, witness accounts, and recovered weapons as evidence in the ongoing investigation.
