Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced plans to upgrade government hospitals and establish an integrated healthcare system to provide quality, technology-driven, and affordable medical services to the people of the state. The newly constructed 50-bed Agartala Civil Hospital, named after Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, was inaugurated by the Chief Minister, marking a significant step in enhancing the state’s healthcare infrastructure.
Saha emphasized the government’s commitment to revamping public health facilities, stating that the hospital launch signifies a new era in strengthening healthcare services. The Chief Minister highlighted the hospital’s role as a pilot project, demonstrating the government’s dedication to modernizing healthcare institutions and improving healthcare accessibility for residents.
The hospital, designed to cater to the healthcare needs of Agartala city residents, offers services such as minor surgeries, general healthcare, OPD services, and comprehensive mother and child healthcare. Equipped with modern amenities including oxygen-supported beds, an oxygen generation plant, and ambulance services, the facility aims to reduce the reliance on other hospitals during emergencies.
Saha expressed optimism that the Rs 20.37-crore hospital would serve as a model for similar healthcare facilities across Tripura, with plans to replicate the initiative in municipal council and nagar panchayat areas. The Chief Minister underscored the government’s focus on digital technology in healthcare, aiming to establish an integrated healthcare system and reduce the need for out-of-state referrals significantly.
