US President Donald Trump revealed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu canceled a planned military operation in Beirut following a direct request from him. Trump also mentioned that Hezbollah had agreed to cease attacks on Israel. The statements were made through social media posts amidst escalating tensions between Israel and the Iran-backed Lebanese group.

Trump expressed gratitude to Netanyahu for redirecting troops away from Beirut after their conversation. He further stated that he had engaged with Hezbollah representatives through intermediaries, leading to an agreement to halt hostilities. These developments aimed to de-escalate the conflict and support ongoing diplomatic efforts involving Iran.

Reports indicated that Trump actively intervened to defuse the Israel-Hezbollah confrontation, considering it a hindrance to diplomatic progress with Iran. Netanyahu, however, maintained a cautious stance, emphasizing that Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon would continue. Lebanese officials received information about a proposed arrangement backed by the US, suggesting a cessation of attacks by Hezbollah and a restraint on Israeli military activities near Beirut.

While Trump’s account of the situation was detailed, neither Israel nor Hezbollah immediately confirmed the reported agreements. The status of any formal ceasefire arrangement remained uncertain, raising questions about the longevity of the understanding. These developments unfolded within the broader context of US efforts to prevent a wider conflict in the Middle East and engage in negotiations with Iran on regional security and nuclear issues.
