Two individuals have been apprehended, and a search is in progress for a third suspect following a violent incident on a Mumbai local train where a 26-year-old man was assaulted and stabbed over a seat dispute. The altercation occurred during a journey from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Khopoli. The victim, identified as Satish Pathak, sustained severe injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.
An official from Mumbai Government Railway Police (GRP) mentioned that the conflict arose when Pathak and a group of youths clashed over seating in the train’s luggage compartment. The situation quickly escalated from a verbal dispute to a physical confrontation. The attackers allegedly assaulted Pathak, resulting in a critical stabbing incident.
Following the assault, Karjat GRP initiated an investigation and successfully apprehended Imran Idris Ansari (18) and Karan Kanhaiyalal Agrawal (22) within 12 hours of the incident. Efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest a third suspect involved in the attack. The swift arrests were facilitated by information from witnesses and thorough searches in the area.
Law enforcement officials are currently interrogating the arrested individuals to ascertain the precise chain of events and the roles played by each person in the incident. A case has been registered by the GRP, with further legal actions pending based on the investigation’s outcomes.
