Following the Congress-led UDF’s electoral success, the spotlight is back on the mysterious death of former Kannur Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Naveen Babu. There are strong indications that the new government might initiate a CBI probe or a fresh investigation by impartial Kerala Police officers. KPCC General Secretary and Ranni MLA-elect Pazhakulam Madhu has vowed to address the issue promptly after the new Cabinet takes charge.
Madhu, a key figure in seeking justice for Naveen Babu, highlighted the unanswered questions surrounding the case and the need for a thorough investigation. The death of Naveen Babu sparked controversy after a CPI(M) leader publicly accused him of bribery during a farewell event, raising suspicions about the earlier investigation’s credibility.
The UDF and Naveen Babu’s family have persistently called for a deeper examination of the relationship between the accused CPI(M) leader and the bribery allegations. Concerns have also been raised about a contentious petrol pump associated with the case, with opposition leaders alleging potential illicit activities and political connections.
Congress leaders emphasize the importance of a comprehensive inquiry to uncover the true instigators behind the incident. As the Left Front faces a significant defeat in the Assembly elections, the Naveen Babu case emerges as a critical challenge for the incoming UDF government. This development could bring the case back into public focus, posing a discomforting reminder for the CPI(M).
