Amid uncertainty surrounding the UDF’s Chief Ministerial choice in Kerala, Congress MP Tariq Anwar mentioned that consensus-building takes time, leading to a slight delay in the process. Speculation is rife about top contenders for the position, including V. D. Satheesan, Ramesh Chennithala, and K. C. Venugopal emerging as frontrunners.
Anwar highlighted the need for time to reach a consensus, especially with an alliance involving multiple parties in Kerala. He emphasized the importance of consulting winning MLAs and outside supporters, underscoring the Congress’s commitment to decision-making through consensus and broad participation.
Commenting on the Vijay-led TVK government’s successful floor test in the Tamil Nadu Assembly with 144 votes, Anwar noted that as per constitutional provisions, the government cannot face a challenge for six months. He predicted a comfortable functioning for the government during this period before efforts are made to secure long-term support for a stable administration.
Expressing sorrow over the untimely passing of Prateek Yadav, son of late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and husband of BJP leader Aparna Yadav, Anwar described the news as shocking and deeply saddening. He mourned the loss of a young individual and conveyed disbelief at the sudden demise.
