Union Budget 2026-27 to be Presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla announced that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget 2026-27 on February 1 at 11 a.m. The Budget Session of Parliament will run from January 28 to April 2. Due to February 1 falling on a Sunday, there was uncertainty about the presentation date, which has now been clarified.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that the first phase of the Budget Session will start on January 28 and end on February 13. The second phase will begin on March 9 and continue till April 2. President Droupadi Murmu has approved the summoning of both Houses of Parliament for the Budget Session 2026.

On January 29, Parliament will not convene due to the Beating Retreat ceremony. The Economic Survey is expected to be tabled on January 30. The Parliament will not meet on January 31 and February 1, the day of the Union Budget presentation. After discussions on the Budget, Parliament is likely to adjourn on February 13 for a recess.

Officials mentioned that the Budget Session may conclude on April 2, a day earlier than usual due to Good Friday falling on April 3.
