Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan visited Puri to witness the annual Rath Yatra procession. He mentioned that only the fortunate ones get to have a ‘darshan’ of Lord Jagannath while he is on the chariot.
During the Rath Yatra, the ‘Pahandi’ ritual commenced, where Lord Jagannath, Lord Balram, and Goddess Subhadra were ceremonially taken to their chariots. Minister Pradhan expressed his gratitude for being able to witness this sacred event.
As devotees gathered to observe the procession despite the rain, Minister Pradhan described it as a moment of ‘pushpa varsha’ or showering of flowers, symbolizing divine blessings for the Rath Yatra.
Chief Priest Jagannath Swain Das Mahapatra referred to the Rath Yatra as the “most auspicious day in the world,” emphasizing that it transcends religious boundaries and welcomes devotees from all walks of life.
Devotees shared their experiences, praising the management and security arrangements during the event. They expressed joy in being part of the holy procession and witnessing the rituals associated with the Rath Yatra.
President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President CP Radhakrishnan extended their greetings for the Rath Yatra, highlighting its significance in celebrating cultural heritage and fostering a spiritual connection between devotees and Lord Jagannath.
