Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, H.D. Kumaraswamy, criticized the Congress-led government in Karnataka for not utilizing centrally funded projects, leading to the return of allocated funds. Speaking at an event in Adichunchanagiri, he highlighted the state government’s failure to provide matching grants and timely land allocation for these projects. Kumaraswamy emphasized the need to address these issues and assured the Centre’s cooperation with the Karnataka government for balanced development.
Kumaraswamy, underlining the importance of development beyond mere advertisements, reiterated the Centre’s commitment to balanced growth under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He urged against mixing politics with development and emphasized the collective effort needed to advance Mandya district’s progress. The Minister pledged to bring industries to the region, including a significant investment in an Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) research center.
In addition to the ARAI center, Kumaraswamy announced plans for the revival of the Visvesvaraya Iron and Steel Plant (VSIL) in Bhadravati, aiming to make the steel sector self-reliant with a proposed initial investment of Rs 5,000 crore. He also mentioned ongoing efforts to rejuvenate Hindustan Machine Tools Limited. Kumaraswamy stressed the transformative potential of these projects in generating employment and fostering a robust automobile sector ecosystem in Mandya.
