Senior US military leaders announced that American and allied forces have significantly weakened Iran’s military strength in the initial days of the ongoing conflict. Iranian missile launches have notably decreased, and US strikes have penetrated deeper into Iranian territory. Operation Epic Fury, led by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, has inflicted substantial damage on Iran’s military infrastructure.
The operation, initiated by President Donald Trump, is still in its early stages, with over 2,000 targets struck across Iran. Air Force General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, revealed a significant reduction in Iran’s ballistic missile and drone attacks. The campaign’s primary objectives include dismantling Iran’s ballistic missile capabilities, neutralizing its naval forces, and hindering Tehran from rebuilding its military power.
US forces have already destroyed more than 20 Iranian naval vessels, including a submarine, weakening Iran’s naval presence. Notably, a US Navy fast-attack submarine sank an enemy ship using a single torpedo for the first time since 1945. The Pentagon confirmed the loss of six US service members during the conflict, with regional partners like Jordan, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia participating in defensive operations against Iranian attacks.
Despite early successes, military officials caution that the conflict remains hazardous and unpredictable. The ongoing operation, aimed at dismantling Iran’s military infrastructure and preventing nuclear development, continues to unfold across the Middle East. US naval forces are engaging Iranian targets in the Persian Gulf and surrounding waters, while regional air defense systems intercept threats.
