The Uttar Pradesh Police and the Special Task Force (STF) have intensified their crackdown on criminal networks across the state in a series of encounters and coordinated operations over the past 36 hours. Law enforcement agencies from Ayodhya to Jhansi, Lucknow, Hapur, Chandauli, Saharanpur, and Shravasti have targeted wanted criminals, resulting in arrests and the neutralization of a notorious offender. Seven major encounters were reported during this period, leading to one death and injuries to six others who are receiving treatment in hospitals.
In Ayodhya, the STF gunned down notorious contract killer Bhanu Pratap Singh, alias Bablu, who was wanted in numerous criminal cases. He sustained gunshot injuries during a police operation and later succumbed to them at Ayodhya Medical College. In Jhansi, police made progress in a murder case by arresting suspects and recovering weapons allegedly used in the crime. Lucknow police successfully solved a case involving molestation, assault, and attempted murder, leading to the arrest of the accused.
In Hapur, an encounter with motorcycle-borne robbers resulted in injuries to two suspects, while three others were arrested. Chandauli police arrested the principal shooter in a murder case, and in Saharanpur, officers apprehended suspects involved in buffalo theft after an exchange of fire. Shravasti district saw the arrest of an accused linked to gang rape and other serious offenses. These operations highlight the ongoing efforts of the Uttar Pradesh Police against organized crime and repeat offenders.
