Representing India internationally, the Velammal International School basketball team participated in the NBA Rising Stars Invitational in Singapore. Despite a tough match against Jubilee High School resulting in a 95-61 score in favor of the latter, the Indian team gained valuable exposure to higher global competition levels. Kushal Manjunatha Singh, a team member, emphasized the importance of learning and improvement beyond just winning games.
The team’s participation in the tournament signifies a significant step in the growth and development of Indian youth basketball. The event, held at the OCBC Arena in Singapore from June 23 to June 29, features 12 boys’ and 12 girls’ teams from the Asia-Pacific region under 18 years old.
The NBA Rising Stars Invitational, organized in collaboration with Sport Singapore and the Singapore Tourism Board, showcases talented young athletes and is graced by basketball stars like Jeremy Lin, Mitch Richmond, Rui Hachimura, and Lauren Jackson. The presence of Velammal International School at this prestigious event highlights the emerging talent in Indian basketball and sets the stage for future international success.
