Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam General Secretary Vellappally Natesan, a prominent community leader in Kerala, stated that the current government led by Pinarayi Vijayan would win the upcoming Assembly elections. His remarks sparked a dispute when he lost his temper during a media interaction regarding his comments on Malappuram district.
Journalists questioned Natesan about his statement that SNDP does not operate any educational institutions in Malappuram or other areas of Malabar. Following an event attended by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Natesan reacted angrily to the inquiries, even pushing away a TV journalist’s microphone. This led to security personnel intervening to calm the situation.
Natesan, emphasizing his support for the Chief Minister, defended their relationship and criticized those who questioned it, suggesting a bias based on caste. His close ties with Vijayan have been contrasted with his strained relations with former Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan. Additionally, he criticized the CPI for its disloyalty after being part of the ruling coalition for a decade.
