Bihar politics saw intense exchanges involving animal references in the Legislative Assembly during a debate on the Home Department’s budget. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary likened Purnea MP Rajesh Ranjan to an “elephant,” sparking a heated exchange. Choudhary’s comments led to a social media retort from Pappu Yadav, who criticized him, escalating the political tension.
In response to Choudhary’s remarks, Pappu Yadav, without directly naming him, criticized the Deputy Chief Minister, calling him a “monkey” and accusing him of corruption. Yadav, who has been vocal about a recent controversial death, was arrested in January and spent time in jail. Choudhary also criticized the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in the Assembly, leading to opposition members walking out.
Choudhary highlighted law-and-order achievements, citing figures on emergency services and domestic violence cases. He emphasized the significant number of arrests made in various criminal cases, asserting that no criminal can evade justice in Bihar. The Deputy Chief Minister also took a dig at former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, questioning the governance during his tenure.
