Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan is set to present awards to outstanding students of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) during the 57th Convocation Ceremony for the 2024–25 batch in New Delhi on Friday.
Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw, who serves as the Chancellor of IIMC, will oversee the event and participate in laying the foundation stone for the institute’s new Academic Block and Hostel Block.
The convocation will be graced by dignitaries including Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting; R. Jagannathan, Chairman of IIMC Society; Dr. Pragya Paliwal Gaur, Vice Chancellor of IIMC; and L. Madhu Nag, Registrar of IIMC, as per an official statement.
Faculty members, staff, and students will gather to commemorate the academic achievements of the graduating students across various programs, with diplomas being awarded to successful candidates from different campuses.
During the ceremony, in addition to diplomas, 35 medals, including 23 with cash prizes, will be conferred upon the top performers from each course at all six campuses.
The Vice President will also lay the foundation stone for the new Academic Block and Hostel Block at IIMC in the presence of senior officials, including the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting and the Secretary.
Furthermore, the Union Minister will inaugurate the Creators Lounge at the Incubation Centre, alongside senior officials from the Ministry and the institute, marking a significant moment in the event.
Established in 1965, IIMC has regional centers nationwide offering journalism courses in English and regional languages, with the first center in Dhenkanal, Odisha, and subsequent centers in Amravati, Aizawl, Jammu, and Kottayam catering to various regions.
