The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) has set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into alleged financial misconduct related to the sale of Adiya Sishtam Ghee at the Sabarimala temple. Superintendent of Police (SP) Mahesh Kumar will lead the special team in this investigation.
This move comes amidst heightened scrutiny on Sabarimala due to a recent gold theft case, raising concerns about financial management and accountability at the renowned temple. The Kerala High Court had directed a Vigilance probe following critical observations by a Division Bench of Justices Raja Vijayaraghavan V. and K.V. Jayakumar earlier this week.
The High Court’s order was based on a report submitted by the Sabarimala Special Commissioner, highlighting potential misappropriation of funds from the sale of Adiya Sishtam Ghee at the temple. The court expressed concerns about certain officials from the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) possibly diverting temple funds for personal gain.
