Wesley So has confirmed his participation in the prestigious Norway Chess tournament in 2026, marking his sixth appearance at the elite event. Known for attracting top players worldwide, the tournament is highly competitive and renowned in the chess community.

Expressing his excitement for the upcoming event, So mentioned his delight in returning to Norway Chess. As a Filipino-born American grandmaster, So has been a dominant figure in global chess for over a decade, achieving significant milestones in his career.

So’s impressive journey in chess began early, earning the grandmaster title at just 14 years old. With notable achievements like winning the 2019 Fischer Random World Championship and securing multiple national titles, So has established himself as a formidable force in the chess world.

Tournament organizers, including Benedicte Westre Skog, COO of Norway Chess, have praised So’s skills and professionalism, highlighting his consistency and strategic prowess. The 2026 edition of Norway Chess is set to take place from May 25 to June 5 in Oslo, featuring a competitive format that promises intense matches.
