Women MPs from the ruling BJP expressed gratitude to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla for maintaining the dignity of the House during the discussion on the President’s Address on February 4. They appreciated the Speaker for upholding decorum and sanctity during the debate. The BJP MPs commended the Speaker’s impartiality and leadership during the seven-year tenure.
The BJP MPs highlighted the unfortunate events of February 4 in the Lok Sabha, where opposition members disrupted proceedings. They mentioned opposition MPs entering the Well of the House, climbing tables, tearing papers, and behaving aggressively. Despite provocation, the ruling party MPs showed restraint and refrained from retaliating. They urged strict action against those responsible for the disruption.
The controversy arose when Speaker Birla adjourned the House due to concerns about potential unexpected actions by opposition MPs. The Speaker’s decision aimed to prevent unpleasant scenes in the parliamentary setting. The incident led to the cancellation of the Prime Minister’s scheduled reply to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address.
