Taking a significant step to boost road connectivity in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath initiated the operation of 45 electric buses and three hydrogen buses by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC). These buses will serve the regions of Noida, Greater Noida, and YEIDA up to Jewar Airport. Additionally, the Noida Electric Bus Depot was inaugurated by the Chief Minister via video conferencing from Lucknow.
The three cutting-edge green hydrogen fuel-based buses are designated to operate in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) area. Addressing the event, CM Yogi Adityanath emphasized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of green mobility and sustainable development for the nation. He stated that the Uttar Pradesh government aims to introduce petrol and diesel-free green mobility electric services to connect every city and village in the upcoming years.
Under the government’s plan, around 110 electric buses are scheduled to be operational by June 15, with a potential expansion of the e-bus fleet to 500 buses based on demand and public need. CM Yogi Adityanath highlighted the importance of electric buses in facilitating last-mile connectivity in the prominent industrial hubs of Noida, Greater Noida, and the Yamuna Authority region. He mentioned that these areas have become key centers for various industrial activities, and the electric buses will play a crucial role in enhancing transportation services.
The Chief Minister underscored the remarkable transformation in Uttar Pradesh post-2017, attributing it to the state’s progress towards becoming a hub of development and connectivity. He emphasized the state’s improved infrastructure, including a vast road network of four lakh km, highways, and expressways. Uttar Pradesh, once known for its poor road conditions, has now established itself as the Expressway State, showcasing enhanced inter-state connectivity and world-class infrastructure.
