A 19-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times by a youth in broad daylight at Ujjain’s busy medicine market, leaving her seriously injured. The incident occurred near the main gate of the medicine market in the Freeganj area. The victim, identified as Pooja Rajak, was on her way to work when the attack took place.
The accused stopped Pooja near the market entrance, conversed briefly, and then proceeded to stab her before fleeing the scene. This act caused panic in the market area, prompting immediate assistance from traders and passersby. Pooja was swiftly taken to Charak Hospital, where doctors discovered multiple stab wounds on her abdomen, neck, and arms. She is currently receiving medical treatment.
Police investigations suggest that a youth, allegedly harassing the woman for several days, is the prime suspect. Pooja’s mother informed the police about a young man named Sunil who had been troubling her daughter. In her statement, Pooja identified Sunil as her attacker. The suspect, identified as Sunil Jaroliya, resides in Dendia village in Ujjain district.
Additional Superintendent of Police Nitesh Bhargava confirmed that the victim positively identified the accused in her statement. A case has been filed, and police teams are actively working to apprehend the suspect. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and other evidence to facilitate a swift arrest. All angles of the case, including the reported harassment prior to the assault, are under investigation.
