The Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) Board praised the senior men’s team for their groundbreaking display in the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup, advancing to the Super Eights for the first time. At a meeting in Harare, ZC’s leadership hailed the team’s achievements in the tournament co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, where Zimbabwe remained undefeated in Group B, securing notable wins against Australia and Sri Lanka. ZC Chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani conveyed the Board’s congratulations, emphasizing the team’s hard work, discipline, and determination that led to this historic milestone.
By securing a top-eight finish, Zimbabwe secures direct entry into the 2028 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, to be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand. The ZC Board also expressed satisfaction with the successful organization of the 2026 ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup, which Zimbabwe co-hosted with Namibia earlier in the year. The hosting of the tournament received acclaim for its smooth operations, facilities, fan involvement, and hospitality extended to teams and officials, showcasing Zimbabwe’s growing reputation as a competent host of major international cricket events.
Zimbabwe’s management team and the Local Organising Committee were lauded for their professionalism, dedication, and meticulous planning, ensuring the delivery of a tournament that met high standards.
