The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government in Punjab has organized a Cabinet meeting in preparation for a Special Session of the Legislative Assembly, hinting at significant decisions on the agenda. While AAP leaders have expressed support for this move, the Congress has criticized it as unnecessary political theatrics.
Punjab Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal welcomed the session, emphasizing the importance of discussing various issues during an Assembly meeting. He also highlighted the significance of Labour Day by honoring the martyrs of Chicago.
Another Punjab Minister, Harjot Singh Bains, echoed similar sentiments, mentioning that the Special Session will address concerns about the BJP’s political tactics and focus on Labor Day discussions. However, Punjab Congress President Amrinder Singh Raja Warring raised doubts about the session’s purpose, suggesting that a confidence motion might be introduced to address internal anxieties within the AAP government.
The one-day Special Session, scheduled on International Workers’ Day, aims to pay tribute to the working class but is anticipated to be overshadowed by political developments. Speculation is rife that the AAP government could introduce a confidence motion during the session, with reports of efforts to ensure full attendance by issuing a whip to all MLAs.
