The AIADMK has declared a protest against the DMK government in Tamil Nadu, criticizing its alleged neglect of state-run transport workers’ demands. Scheduled for March 13 in Chennai, the protest organized by the party’s transport workers’ wing will take place in front of the Metropolitan Transport Corporation headquarters. Led by former Minister D. Jayakumar, the demonstration aims to address long-standing issues faced by transport corporation employees.
AIADMK’s General Secretary, Edappadi K. Palaniswami, accused the DMK administration of failing to fulfill crucial demands such as wage revision agreements and surrender leave benefits for workers. He emphasized the importance of supporting transport workers who are essential for public transportation services in the state. Palaniswami highlighted the historical consideration given to workers’ demands during previous administrations, contrasting it with the current government’s alleged inaction.
The protest is intended to draw attention to the unmet promises made by the DMK during the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections and to urge immediate action on the workers’ grievances. AIADMK leaders anticipate broad participation from transport workers and party members across the state, aiming to pressure the government to address the concerns of transport corporation employees promptly.
