The Aqua Adventure Regatta 2026, organized by the National Cadet Corps (NCC), wrapped up at Umiam Lake after an eight-day event with the participation of 100 NCC cadets from various institutions. The camp, held from May 9 to 16, was conducted by the 12 Assam NCC Battalion under the NCC Group Jorhat and the NCC North Eastern Region Directorate. The regatta aimed to instill discipline, leadership, teamwork, and adventure spirit among youth, promoting national integration and personality development through outdoor activities.
Senior Division (SD) and Senior Wing (SW) cadets engaged in rigorous training in aqua adventure and leadership tasks like sailing, boat pulling, watermanship exercises, and team-building drills during the camp. The program was structured to enhance cadets’ self-confidence, courage, and camaraderie, exposing them to challenging outdoor environments. Participants demonstrated high levels of enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the eight-day event, officials noted.
The closing ceremony of the regatta included cultural performances by the cadets, prize distribution, and felicitation of outstanding participants in various competitions and adventure activities. Camp Commandant Lt Col Atong Konyak K awarded certificates and prizes to cadets for their exceptional performances, dedication, and sportsmanship during the camp. As part of the culmination, cadets enjoyed sightseeing trips to popular tourist spots around Shillong, such as the iconic Shillong Peak, to appreciate Meghalaya’s scenic beauty and cultural heritage.
The successful conclusion of the Aqua Adventure Regatta 2026 underscored the NCC’s ongoing dedication to holistic youth development through adventure-based learning, discipline, and character-building initiatives.
