Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lieutenant General K.T. Parnaik (Retd.) emphasized the state’s capacity for producing high-quality organic tea, which could significantly benefit rural livelihoods, entrepreneurship, and sustainable economic growth, especially in eastern and foothill districts.

A delegation from the Arunachal Pradesh Small Tea Growers’ Association, led by President Tadak Gab and General Secretary Kapwang Arangham, met with the Governor at Lok Bhavan. They updated Governor Parnaik on the advancements in tea cultivation, challenges faced by growers, and future prospects in the sector.

The delegation requested the Governor’s assistance in enhancing the tea industry by establishing an organic certification facility, a tea auction center, formulating a comprehensive state Tea Policy, and providing special support to tea-growing districts like Tirap, Changlang, and Longding.

Governor Parnaik advised tea growers to form a representative corporation and present a detailed proposal to the state government outlining their immediate needs and long-term vision for the sector. He expressed confidence in the future of the tea industry in Arunachal Pradesh through collaborative efforts between the Tea Board and the state government.

He highlighted the importance of accessing financial aid, quality certification, branding opportunities, and market connections for tea growers to improve competitiveness, livelihoods, and establish Arunachal Pradesh as a premium tea producer. Governor Parnaik encouraged growers to focus on quality, organic cultivation, value addition, and branding to establish a unique identity for Arunachal Pradesh tea in national and international markets.

Tea growers were advised to utilize modern technology, digital marketing, and e-commerce platforms to expand market reach, enhance profitability, and promote Arunachal tea. The Association members expressed gratitude to Governor Parnaik for his ongoing support towards making Arunachal Pradesh a recognized center for premium and organic tea production.
