Assam Police reported on Tuesday that they were unable to find Congress leader Pawan Khera at his Delhi home, and his current whereabouts remain unknown. The authorities are actively working to locate him. The search at Khera’s residence in Delhi was conducted in the midst of a controversy surrounding the Congress party’s allegation that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife possesses three passports.
A police official, speaking outside Khera’s residence, mentioned that a case has been filed, and they were seeking to speak with Pawan Khera. However, they were unable to meet him as he was not present at the location. The official refrained from disclosing further details found during the search, stating that they are unaware of his current location but are committed to tracing him.
Chief Minister Sarma responded to Khera’s allegations regarding his wife’s alleged possession of foreign passports, stating that the claims have been proven false. He emphasized that the governments of the three countries mentioned in the allegations have denied that Sarma’s wife holds their passports. Sarma labeled the Congress’s accusations as falsehoods that have now been exposed.
Sarma mentioned that Assam Police visited Khera’s residence as part of the investigation but did not find the Congress leader there. He expressed his belief that Khera may have fled to Hyderabad to avoid questioning, adding that the allegations were politically motivated to tarnish his reputation and that of his family before the elections. Sarma affirmed that the state government would pursue legal action to hold accountable those responsible for spreading misinformation.
