The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the International Cricket Council (ICC), and all involved for their support during the recent exit from the T20 World Cup 2026. Bangladesh declined to participate in the tournament’s scheduled matches in India, leading to their replacement by Scotland. The BCB had requested a venue change to Sri Lanka due to security concerns following Mustafizur Rahman’s release from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.
The ICC’s decision to replace Bangladesh resolved weeks of uncertainty as the BCB had persistently pushed for a venue change and even proposed group swapping with Ireland. The BCB specifically thanked PCB Chairman Mohsin Raza Naqvi, his Board, and the cricket fans of Pakistan for their support. BCB President Md Aminul Islam appreciated Pakistan’s assistance and expressed hope for continued cooperation between the two cricketing nations.
President Islam’s visit to Pakistan further strengthened the bond between the two boards, leading to a request for Pakistan to play the ICC T20 World Cup match against India on February 15. This gesture was seen as beneficial for the overall cricketing community, emphasizing the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship.
