BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia criticized the presence of unauthorized individuals with IPL teams and players, emphasizing that the Board will take strict action against such violations. An advisory is being prepared by the BCCI and IPL to address anomalies and irregularities seen during the current season, which contradict the Board’s anti-corruption protocols. Saikia highlighted instances of unauthorized persons traveling with team members, entering team hotels, and accessing players’ or officials’ rooms without permission.
Last month, Rajasthan Royals faced scrutiny on two occasions, with team manager Romi Bhinder fined and warned for using a mobile phone in the dugout during a match, and skipper Sanju Samson allegedly seen vaping in the dressing room. Saikia expressed concern over team owners and officials breaching restricted areas, compromising the integrity of the dugout and team environment. He stressed the importance of adhering to protocols and emphasized the seriousness with which such matters are being handled.
Saikia emphasized that leniency will no longer be tolerated, cautioning that any future infractions will result in severe disciplinary measures by both the BCCI and IPL organizing committee. An advisory is set to be issued and strictly enforced to ensure compliance. Saikia concluded by warning that stringent action will be taken against any violators, without exceptions.
