Amid efforts to enhance governance, the Bihar government, led by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, has implemented a significant reorganization within the police department. Following the recent transfer of 16 IPS officers, the Home Department has now reassigned 61 DSP-rank officers and two IPS officers to various key positions, emphasizing the state’s commitment to improving law and order. The reshuffle includes the reassignment of Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) to crucial units like the Cyber Crime Wing, Special Branch, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), and Special Vigilance Unit.
These changes are seen as a strategic move to boost efficiency, accountability, and response capabilities in addressing evolving security threats, particularly in the realms of cybercrime and organized crime. Notable transfers include Nurul Haque’s shift from SDPO of Bihar Sharif to Assistant Director General of Police (Inspection) in Patna, and Pankaj Kumar’s appointment as Superintendent of Police in the Special Vigilance Unit, Patna. Additionally, officers like Raghunath Singh and Raghav Dayal have been reassigned to roles in the Cyber Crime Unit and CID, respectively, to strengthen the state’s crime-fighting capabilities.
The extensive reshuffling of officers underscores a strategic administrative effort to reinforce critical policing units, enhance inter-departmental coordination, and deploy seasoned officers in priority areas. These transfers aim to bolster the police response mechanism in combating cybercrime and organized criminal activities, reflecting the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order effectively amidst evolving security challenges.
