Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Tamilisai Soundararajan expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for facilitating the passage of Indian ships through the Strait of Hormuz. She emphasized that this action would help avert any potential fuel shortages in the country. Soundararajan, speaking in Chennai, highlighted that concerns regarding petrol, diesel, or gas scarcity would be alleviated due to the Central government’s proactive measures.
Soundararajan urged the Tamil Nadu government to act responsibly and prevent public confusion. She criticized the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, for his remarks predicting public suffering, stating that such statements could incite unnecessary panic. The BJP leader condemned what she perceived as attempts to create discord between the people and the Central government, asserting that such efforts would not succeed.
Indian Oil Corporation Limited reassured the public that there are ample stocks of petrol and diesel in Tamil Nadu, with uninterrupted supply to retail outlets. The company confirmed that all petroleum terminals and distribution centers in the state are well-equipped to meet customer demands, ensuring smooth fuel distribution to petrol pumps.
