The Bharatiya Janata Party’s four nominees for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Gujarat submitted their nomination papers at the Legislative Assembly on the final day for nominations. The candidates, Raju Shukla, Mansinh Parmar, Mukesh Rathwa, and Jitendra Kanjaria, filed their papers in the presence of top BJP leaders, including Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi.
These four candidates were announced by the BJP on June 4 for the four Rajya Sabha seats in Gujarat that will be vacant on June 21. Raju Shukla, aged 62, is from Mehsana district and holds key positions within the BJP. Mukesh Rathwa, 39, is a tribal leader from Chhota Udepur district, while Mansinh Parmar, 45, is the state president of the BJP OBC Morcha. Jitendra Kanjaria, 39, has a background in organizational roles within the BJP.
The Election Commission’s schedule includes scrutiny of nomination papers on June 9, with the final date for withdrawal of candidature set for June 11. Polling, if necessary, and vote counting are scheduled for June 18. With the BJP having a significant majority in the Gujarat Assembly, it is anticipated that the party will secure all four Rajya Sabha seats.
