The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended Hukam Singh Meena, an Assistant Engineer at the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) in a bribery case. Meena, stationed at MCD’s Shahdara South Zone, QUC Office in Ghazipur, was caught red-handed while allegedly accepting illegal gratification during official duties.
Following complaints, a case was filed on March 18 against Meena for demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000 to clear a bill verification file. On March 19, the CBI conducted a successful operation, capturing Meena accepting Rs 18,000 of the bribe amount.
Meena is now in custody, with ongoing investigations to uncover the full extent of the misconduct and potential involvement of other individuals. The CBI’s actions underscore their commitment to combating corruption in public sectors and encouraging citizens to report any instances of malpractice.
In recent similar cases, the CBI arrested a junior engineer from the South Eastern Railway for bribery on March 17 and a medical officer along with a hospital executive on March 16. These arrests demonstrate the agency’s dedication to upholding transparency and accountability in governance.
