Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director Praveen Sood advised a group of 134 new Sub-Inspectors to incorporate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into their investigative processes and maintain a mindset of continuous learning. He emphasized the significance of technology, particularly AI, in modern investigations, encouraging officers to utilize it as a supportive tool to expedite inquiries, especially when handling substantial digital data volumes. Sood stressed that while technology, including AI, can aid investigations, it should not replace human judgment.

Sood also expressed contentment with the increased representation of female officers in the current batch, which comprises 18 women officers. Noting that this batch is the largest in the history of the CBI Academy, Sood acknowledged the organization’s progress in enhancing gender diversity. He praised the Academy’s recent achievement of a five-star rating from the Capacity Building Commission, recognizing its excellence in training and institutional standards.

During the ceremony, the CBI Director presented medals and trophies to exceptional trainees for their outstanding performance. Satyavarat Singh received the DP Kohli Award for Best All-Round Sub-Inspector Trainee and the DCBI Trophy for Indoor Studies. Sahithya G. was honored with the Trophy for Cyber Crime Investigation, while Shekhar Baliyan and Rakshit Kumar received the John Lobo Trophy for Best Outdoor and the CBI Academy Trophy for Dedication and Exemplary Conduct, respectively.

The Passing Out Parade marked the conclusion of rigorous training provided to the 134 Sub-Inspectors who commenced their basic training at the CBI Academy on May 15. These trainees underwent institutional training covering various aspects such as law, investigation skills, anti-corruption cases, conventional crimes, intelligence collection, economic offenses, cybercrime, bank fraud, mobile forensics, forensic medicine, and forensic science. The course also included field attachments and visits to different institutes and organizations to familiarize them with the workings of the CBI and other entities.

Sood inaugurated the newly established “Training and Research in Advance Cyber Evidence” (TRACE) laboratory at the CBI Academy, aimed at enhancing officers’ practical abilities in Cyber Crime Investigation, digital forensics, and electronic evidence handling through real-world scenarios. The laboratory provides hands-on, scenario-based training to Investigating Officers, guiding them through the complete process of digital evidence handling, from seizure to presentation in court.
